The Irish times recently covered the 'Irish Times Innovation Awards' ceremony for which we made the awards. Congratulations to all the finalists and recipients! we hope you're happy with our work!
The New Dan Rooney Perpetual Trophy for The Croke Park American Football Classic has been unveiled today! This is our biggest trophy yet using a piece of Bog Yew aged at over 4500 years made in Co Longford and our base structure in Stainless Steel and Aluminium compliments this huge trophy of 27"tall and 10kg in weight. So its going to take some brawn to lift this one but this is not going to be a problem with College teams from Penn State and Florida arriving into Dublin in August to compete for this trophy along with an expected 40,000 travelling fans from the States. Our clients Croke Park Stadium seemed delighted with the result. It has yet to come back to our workshop for final engraving on the raised plinths but we thought you might like this sneak preview. Many hours of forging ,welding and finishing have gone into this one.
The 'Irish Times Innovation Awards' have just left our workshop.
Good luck to the 18 shortlisted shortlisted companies!

Croke Park Classic
Croke Park Classic Trophy being designed, finishing touches on the design and production now under way in the workshop! We are making the base parts and things are moving along nicely, awaiting a beautiful conical piece in solid metal to hold up the ball whilst being protected by a cage of stainless steel. This is one of our biggest trophy designs ever, but if its American Football it's gotta be big! This photo is 1:1 scale, done the old fashioned way by Shane , on the drawing board.

We are now in the process of sanding the table top smooth. as you can see Shane doing below.
As before, we are still taking Bids on this table. The bidding starts at €800 and you can place your bids on our bid page here

Progress on our new table has been swift, like the legs of steel, this is a view of the table upside down. Can't beat the old German Beer crates as support! It will be a tripod table with legs of 5mm steel. The cypress top is split naturally by a large knot, and so the 3rd leg is also split. Anyone who wishes to bid on this table can do so by going to our Bidding page. Bids will start at €800.
By the way , the Nationwide programme with features our 'Ghost of Ash' lights and the workshop activities airs at 7pm on Monday the 4th of March, RTE1.
Over the past few weeks we have been working on a New Trophy Design for the Croke Park Classic on August 30th. The new Design will be named the Dan Rooney Perpetual Trophy after Americas Irish Ambassador, who has a huge interest in Football and the Gaelic Games. It will be a Biennial event competed for by leading US College Football Teams. This year the University of Central Florida and Pennsylvania State will battle for the trophy. Holland is delighted to be asked to design this prestigious piece which will incorporate Pittsburgh Steel and Native Irish Yew themed on the cage of an American footballers Helmet and the roof of Croke Park.
Just recovering from the long photo shoot yesterday. RTE's Nationwide team were filming activity around our 'Ghost of Ash' range. Filming took place in the forests around Ardgillan Castle, in our workshop/studio in Duleek and in a gravel yard near the M1, where these photo's were taken. In Ardgillan Castle, Nationwide filmed a brief sequence about the process of sourcing the fallen ash branches. Thanks to Fingal County Council parks Department for letting us film and thin some of their fallen branches. In our studio some of our staff were interviewed by the Nationwide team and asked about their experiences working here at Shane Holland Design Workshops
in the gravel yard, Patrick Crofts, one of our staff, modelled and posed excellently in his gentlemans outfit with the Ghost of Ash. This shoot was part of our pre-publicity for our next show at May Design Series, Excel, London 18-20 May
We are delighted to announce our participation at London’s May Design Series at the Excel form 18th -20th May.

The renowned Irish Designer will present some of his best known products such as his Award winning Ruray, Arthur, Chev and Hatrick. Along with new Ghost of Ash range. Holland last showed at the Arc show in 2005 where his Chev lights hung over the Champagne Bar, and now this will be a return to this newly merged umbrella of 4 in one shows at the Excel Centre in Londons docklands.
Our design studio, based just North of Dublin. Is established as a leading supplier of sculptural bespoke lighting for hotel foyers and private residences. Shanes 'Ruray' has just been specified for the Presidential Suite at Los Angeles Hilton hotel. His work is highly collectible due to its signed and limited numbers of production. This show will be surely an exciting prospect alongside premium brands such as Ingo Maurer, iGuzinni and Sharon Map to name a few.
